Steve loved his time in Idaho's outdoors -whether it was on a golf course or hiking to pristine mountain lakes with his kids and in later years, his grandchildren. He was a proud supporter of Boise State Bronco football and basketball and until his illness NEVER LEFT A GAME EARLY! He also "owned" shares in his beloved Green Bay Packers. In addition he served in the House and Senate in the Idaho Legislature.Ī sports enthusiast, Steve was often found on the sidelines of a soccer game as a coach, parent or grandparent and was the first President of the Boise Nationals Soccer Club in Boise. He had a passion for the law - working in both private practices in Sandpoint and Boise, and in the public sector in Boise. After completion of his undergraduate degree he moved his family to Idaho and graduated three years later with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Idaho. To this union were born four children: Ann "Jeni", Jesse, Jimmy, and Jodi. Steve graduated from Payette High School where he served as Associated Student Body president and a Senator at Idaho Boys State and attended college at the University of Wisconsin- Madison where he met and married Janice Majeski. He was born Apin Payette, Idaho to Jesse and Anna Belle Herndon. Herndon, 66, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Octoafter a long, courageous battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
